ABOUT SMSSO
A tradition of excellence built on teamwork.
Solon Middle School Science Olympiad has competed at the highest level for many years, including eight national championship titles. Our program emphasizes curiosity, preparation, perseverance, collaboration, and respect.
Students take on events spanning life science, physical science, earth and space science, engineering, laboratory skills, and scientific inquiry. Success comes from students and coaches learning together throughout the season.

2026–27 tryouts are September 25.
Tryouts include general science knowledge and event-specific activities. Students should review the Science Olympiad rules and all instructions shared through the team’s Google Classroom.

REGULAR SEASON
STEM Access Fund
Supports competition fees, build materials, lab supplies, and student participation throughout the season.
STATE & NATIONALS
Championship Opportunity Fund
Helps cover travel, lodging, meals, and tournament expenses when the team qualifies for state or national competition.
Invitational sponsorships primarily support the Regular-Season STEM Access Fund. To designate a gift for State & Nationals, contact the coaches before donating.

School families may also use the PaySchools donation option; see TeamHub for instructions. Donations are voluntary and separate from required club and competition fees. Checks may be arranged with Coach Ragsdale, payable to “Solon BOE”.
